School

In a specific area of the Center, students work online, focusing their time on skill development and credit recovery work. The work to be completed is determined by their school outside of the facility and is overseen by an instructor at the facility. The instructor is physically in the building to meet with the youth at least once a week and is available online to discuss concerns and progress with the youth as needed. The students are, in the morning, working on their assigned tasks. In the afternoon those skills continue as well as dedicated reading time. Those who have completed the necessary high school requirements have the opportunity to test for their GED. In addition, those who have already attained that level can apply to take basic college courses through Rio Salado College.

The facility also offers youth a variety of reading materials to match both their reading level and interests. Youth are encouraged to take their book choice with them back to the pod area and continue their learning in the evening during their free time.
