Question: What are the requirements to become President?
Answer: The United States Constitution outlines the
requirements for President in Article 2. This article of the U.S. Constitution
also outlines the many powers of the President and Executive branch of
government.
Section 1 of Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution states
that a President must:
- be a natural born citizen of the united States
- be at least 35 years old
- have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years
In addition, the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
states that a President may not serve more than 2 terms of 4 years each,
even if they have only served as President for 2 or more years of one
of those terms.

Arthur, even though the Constituion does not require the President to have served in America's Armed Forces, it is a major key in aquiring the public's approval. Yes it should be in the Constitution, but I believe that matter has caused enough debate. Personally, I would have voted for McCain, but since I am 15, I don't have much say. I agree with you in wanting a President with battle experience, but disagree in it being a requirement of being President. Obama wants to pull our forces out of Iraq, so we have little to fear about him playing chess with hand grenades.

How bout a constitutional amendment requiring a presidential candidate to have served in some branch of the armed forces? How can a person who has never served in the military service be the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces?

A natural born citizen is one of which was born in the US to parents owing no allegiance to any other country. This is stated in the Law of Nations as well as Senate bill 61. The term natural born citizen is used in the Constitution. If parents are not from the US, and a child is born in the US, that child is a born citizen, however not naturally because his parents have an allegiance to other countries.
