Question: What is Marijuana?
Answer: The term 'marijuana' refers to the leaves and flowering tops of the cannabis plant. Marijuana is a tobaccolike substance produced by drying the leaves and flowering tops of the cannabis plant. Marijuana contains a natural chemical called THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) which gives users of the drug a 'high' when smoked. Marijuana leaves are usually smoked in the form of loosely rolled cigarettes called joints or cigars called blunts.
A number of other drugs including phencyclidine (PCP) may be used in making joints and blunts, substantially altering their effects and deadliness. Some common names for marijuana include pot, grass, weed, mary jane, acupulco gold, and reefer.
Marijuana users experience the same health problems as tobacco smokers, such as bronchitis, emphysema, and bronchial asthma. Some of the effects of marijuana use also include increased heart rate, dryness of the mouth, reddening of the eyes, impaired motor skills and concentration, and frequent hunger. Extended use increases risk to the lungs and reproductive system, as well as suppression of the immune system. Occasionally, hallucinations, fantasies, and paranoia are reported.

Some people like to point out all the ill sided effects of marijuana use such as the mind altering state it places a user in, but this is nothing more than pointing people in the wrong direction. Let me ask you does drinking alter the mind/thought process? YA I also believe the government should have no control over what people consume into there own bodies, as long as it harms no one else or revokes others to there own rights

Ive seen alchol disrupt a life more than ive seen pot do so. Its not as bad a drug as they make it out to be. i used to be openly against marijuana and its use, until i tried it. Not once have i heard of one of my high friends go home and beat there child or wife. Yet as a kid my step father would come home from work almost daily and beat me or my mother over virtualy NOTHING, he did so out of a drunken rage, how many acts of violence have you heard of come out of the use of pot, most people would smoke a bowl to calm themselves down to prevent such incedents.

In response to the people trying to encourage pot smokers to "get their lives together", say you're a responsible drinker. You probably come home from a long day, sit down and unwind with a couple beers or a glass of wine. Do you consider those things to be damaging to the quality of your life? I'm a 19 year old female, working to support myself, and trying to figure out options for continuing my education. I'm doing SOMETHING. Pot's common in my town, and I smoke it almost daily, as you would casually drink your beer but I don't let it get in the way of what's important. Just be responsible.

i personally smoke marijuana i dont see anything wrong with it. it has its health hadzords but so does anything else we chose to consume. Why is it ohkay for a obese person to shove 6,000 calories into their mouth a day but a stoner cant smoke a blunt to ease the stress. Someone whos addicted to nicitoine can smoke 4 packs a day and have a trake and its fine.. as long as the govt makes money. we have alot of double standards that are just
